How to transfer data from one iPhone to another?

If you want to transfer all your information, such as photos, apps, chats, contacts and much more from your old iPhone, you must have your SIM card in the new iPhone, after that you have three methods to transfer data:

Quick start

  1. Turn on your new cell phone and put it near the old device and follow the on-screen instructions to get started. If the message to set up the new smartphone disappears from the old one, restart both devices.
  2. Connect the device to Wi-Fi or to the cellular network.
  3. You may be prompted to activate the cellular data service.
  4. Configure Face ID or Touch ID.
  5. iCloud

  1. Turn on the new phone and then a greeting screen should appear. If you’ve already set up your new device, you must erase it before following these steps.
  2. Connect to a Wi-Fi network and follow the steps until you see the Apps & Data screen. Then click on “Restore from iCloud Backup”.
  3. Sign in to iCloud with your Apple ID and password.
  4. Select a backup, checking the date and size of each one to choose the correct one.
  5. If you’ve purchased content from the iTunes Store or the App Store using multiple Apple IDs, sign in to each Apple ID. If you don’t remember your passwords, you can skip this step by tapping “Don’t have an Apple ID or did you forget it?”
  6. Stay connected and wait for the restore process to finish. Then complete the rest of the on-screen setup steps. Ideally, you should stay connected to Wi-Fi and plugged into a power source after setup.

iTunes or Finder

  1. Turn on the new phone and then a greeting screen should appear. If you’ve already set up your new device, you must erase it before following these steps.
  2. Follow the steps until you see the Apps & Data screen, then tap “Restore from Mac or PC”.
  3. Connect the new cell phone to the computer that you used to back up your old smartphone.
  4. Open iTunes or a Finder window on the PC and select the device. You may need to indicate that you trust your device.
  5. Choose “Restore backup“. Next, select a backup, checking the date and size to make sure it’s correct.
  6. If you need to restore from an encrypted backup, type your password when prompted.
  7. Wait for the restore process to finish and then complete the rest of the setup steps on the device. Ideally stay connected to the internet.
