[UNBOXING] MSI RTX 4090 Suprim Liquid X

This Wednesday, October 5 at 3 p.m. ends a first NDA (non-disclosure agreement) which authorizes us to reveal the photos of this RTX 4090 Suprim Liquid X that we received directly from MSI France. A very special thank you to MSI France since it is the only sample available in France! As you know from NVIDIA’s announcements, the custom RTX 4090s will be available from October 12.

A first “Suprim Liquid X”:

If the “Suprim” series is very well known at MSI, this is the first time that the brand has offered a version with an autonomous liquid cooling system of the AIO type. The combination of such cooling with the “Suprim” series should give us a high-performance high-end card.

The card will therefore embed a liquid cooling system which consists of a water block responsible for keeping the GPU and memory chips cool, but also a 240 mm radiator to dissipate heat. We are therefore on an AIO type liquid loop, that is to say pre-installed. You receive your copy of the RTX 4090 Suprim Liquid X and install it directly on your PC.

The two fans that equip the radiator are MSI Silent Gale P12 120mm models, designed to provide high airflow with very little noise pollution. If the temperature is cool enough, they will remain at rest. To optimize this cooling, a TORX 5.0 fan cools a heatsink placed on the PCB power supply stages. This fan is inserted via an octagonal cutout in the cover in brushed aluminium.

Two sides of this octagon benefit from an RGB backlighting trait but also the inscription “Suprim” on the upper edge as well as the logo placed on the backplate, also in brushed aluminium. Finally, be aware that the card has two BIOSes: silent and gaming.

Architecture:

This MSI RTX 4090 Suprim Liquid X benefits from NVIDIA’s brand new architecture, that is to say “ADA Lovelace”. This was intended to replace the Ampere architecture of the GeForce RTX 30xx launched a little over two years ago.

This flagship model from NVIDIA features an AD102-300 GPU with 16384 CUDA cores. It has 24 GB of GDDR6X memory with a bandwidth of 1 TB/s and it sees its TDP reach 450 watts. The speed of this RTX 4090 should be 2 to 4 times faster than the RTX 3090 Ti according to NVIDIA.

Technical specifications:

In terms of frequency, the basic one is announced at 2235 MHz as for the Boost points to …, a little more patience! The 24 GB of G-DDR6 memory runs at 1313 MHz (1008 GB/s) on a 384-bit bus.

Our MSI RTX 4090 Suprim Liquid X benefits from a very good overclocking factory facing card Founders Edition from NVIDIA, but we’ll talk about that in the full card review. The memory frequency, on the other hand, is also 1313 MHz.

We find as power connectors the new 16-pin mini-connector. MSI provided in its bundle an adapter allowing you to connect no less than four 8-pin connectors. Finally, the card has, at the video outputs of three DisplayPort 1.4 and an HDMI 2.1 port.

As you can see, we used the adapter delivered in the bundle and which must be powered via 4 PCI-e cables. We are waiting for the CORSAIR 12VHPWR 600W cable in order to combine it with our Corsair HX1500i power supply. See you on October 12 to discover the performance of this MSI RTX 4090.
