IGN USA was able to find out the details on the new Need for Speed Unbound recently presented and thus indicated the resolution, the framerate, the modalities and more. Let’s see all the details.
First of all it is revealed that Need for Speed Unbound was made with the Frostbite Engine (Battlefield, Dragon Age Inquisition) and will offer graphics to 4K and 60 FPS. The open world game world is called Lakeshore and will allow us to freely explore the streets. Through the Frostbite Engine and current generation hardware, Need for Speed Unbound will propose a new high frame rate physics management system.
Need for Speed Unbound will include a single player modes and the ability to play online with cross-play. The single player campaign will have “a new structure”: each race will have an in-game cost and only by winning will we earn more money. Playing several races in a row also allows you to earn more money, but at the same time puts us at risk of losing everything in one fell swoop.
There countryside it will also have an “immersive narrative”: it will follow two friends, divided by the consequences of a robbery at a garage. The player will have to try to claim a very high value car by winning “the definitive road race”. The developers explain that each character will have a complete personality with their own story arcs and style, both personal and car. We will be able to see the characters driving around the streets. The player will also be able to personally challenge the characters of Need for Speed Unbound.
Need for Speed Unbound will not miss the police, which will be inserted in a more “tactical” way. There will be various types of enemy vehicles with their own strengths and weaknesses that we will have to exploit during chases to save ourselves. Players will also be able to choose the level of aggression of the cops, as well as having tools to see the police ahead of time and avoid them. The goal is to allow the player to play in a more relaxed way if he prefers not to have the police always on his heels.
For what concern multiplayer, it will be possible to drive around the world, meet with friends and simply waste time all together. You can then access races and playlists at any time, together with other players. In addition, there will be a system that allows you to showcase your photographs and achievements in Need for Speed Unbound.
The team did not want to talk about the possibility of a battle pass or other types of monetization being present, but EA has confirmed that there will be free add-on content after launch, including new features, experiences, items and more. New details will come later.
In terms of customization, you will be able to define the details of your character as well as all the main components of the cars, similar to Forza Horizon. However, it is not specified how many cars there will be.
