Blurry photos. Whatever the photo quality of your smartphone, we have all experienced this kind of disappointment. The timing is perfect, you pressed at the right time to capture the scene, but moved a little or took a long time to focus on the trigger. And bam, the cliché is ruined. So here comes the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro presented during the Google conference this Thursday, October 6.

Photo and intelligent image processing has always been deeply rooted in the DNA of Google smartphones. These Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro are no exception to the rule with a function that promises to be impressive: Photo Unblur. In French, this feature could be translated as “Photo deblurred”.

Remove blur after shooting

Thus, if you take a photo whose rendering lacks sharpness, you can press a dedicated button in Google Photos. So you can leave the Tensor G2 chip and ” the capabilities of machine learning to remove blur and visual noise on the photo to make it clearer.

On paper, this option looks really impressive and we can’t wait to try it during our test of the Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. Note in passing that the brand also insists on the fact that the cameras of its Pixel smartphones already have a whole bunch of software optimizations to avoid unwanted blur as much as possible when shooting.

Example: wide-angle and ultra-wide-angle work together to make sure faces stay sharp. The interest of Photo Unblur is to be able to intervene easily in post-production on any image.

Improved night mode

Incidentally, the Tensor G2 chip of the Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro also boasts of improving the night mode called “Night Vision”. How ? By dividing the break time by two. This will reduce the risk of moving during the capture. And obviously the brand promises that it does not compromise the quality of image processing.

Again, the idea is to avoid blurring your photos in low light. It is hoped that these improvements will be available as soon as the Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro launch, without having to wait for a software update.

In addition to smartphones, Google also officially unveiled the Pixel Watch and revealed more details about the Pixel Tablet. The Pixel 7 and 7 Pro will be sold at the respective recommended prices of 649 and 899 euros from October 13. In the meantime, pre-orders for the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro are already starting.
