Overwatch the Hero Shooter from Blizzard Entertainment will soon be 5 years old since its release in May 2016 and more or less in its third year, several rumors suggested that it would become Free-To-Play, recently hopes have been raised due to comments from Activision in its latest financial report.
In it, it was noted that Overwatch 2, the sequel to the popular game, would not have a release date for this 2021 and that it would be in an advanced stage of development, however, something interesting was mentioned in this report.
Since according to the company’s CFO, the premiere of Warzone and the new Call Of Duty monetization model have taught them that it is possible to transport this model to other franchises of the company, where they stated that they will be focusing on Free- To-Play, obviously without mentioning anything specific.
Based on these statements, the Overwatch community has been somewhat restless, generating rumors about the possibility that this game may be Free-To-Play soon, specifically it is believed that the news would be given at Blizzconline 2021, however, among those who mention this is Meter_OW who in the past has had relevance with the leaks of the Blizzard game and has hit several things.
Although, according to the leaker, it may not happen this year, other players and influencers think that making Overwatch Free-To-Play now would mean that Blizzard would start adding more content, to monetize players who would start in the game.
We will have to be patient and wait for what Blizzard has prepared for us for its franchises at Blizzconline 2021, an event that will take place on February 19.
