Many Android users have noticed the existence of a hole, or even several, in the bottom of their Smartphone. The function of the main hole is simple: it is the microphone. We are going to provide you with more details on this significant element of your mobile. How to clean it properly? Why do some devices not have one or on the contrary have several? You will know everything about it. We even take this opportunity to enlighten you more about the Android operating system.
What is the function of this hole at the bottom of the Smartphone?
This small hole, which most Android mobiles have, is right next to the charging port. It represents the microphone of the equipment. Therefore, it has a specific function, since it is thanks to it that we can exchange telephone conversations.
However, there are some cell phones that do not have it. Quite simply because the microphone module is aesthetically attached to the loudspeaker module. We notice it especially in the iPhone, where in the lower part you can see the presence of several speakers and two microphones with several holes. It all depends on the choice of each manufacturer.
Note, however, that only one microphone is always used for calls, the bottom one with a hole or a sort of grid. The other microphones are mainly used to better capture sounds when you record a video, for example.
Obviously, this small hole is fragile and delicate. Cleaning must be done taking certain precautions. What is the most recommended method? The use of some type of adhesive sealant. This product leaves no residue, but you have to use it very skillfully. The idea is to take a few pieces of putty and stick them into the small holes. Warning: do not press too much on the putty, because it is especially important to prevent it from remaining inside. Passing it gently and lightly will be enough to absorb the dirt.
NB : if the microphone is protected by a grille, the best would be to use a very soft brush. Make sure not to force it so that the hairs do not damage the speakers.
What is Android?
Android is a mobile operating system designed for touchscreen devices such as smartphones, tablets and other connected objects. It is a system developed by Google, based on the Linux kernel and other open source software whose purpose is to facilitate and simplify the use of a large number of messaging applications such as Facebook or Instagram .
As a reminder, it was first initially developed by Android Inc, which was later acquired by Google in 2005. Two years later, it was introduced in mobile devices. Its main source code is commonly referred to as the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) and it stands out as the most widely used mobile operating system in the world.
Each of the layers of the operating system has its own function and a distinctive process. The functioning of the operating system (OS or Operating System in English) depends on the activity of each of these parts. It will thus be responsible for managing all the resources of the mobile phone, giving priority to the different memories and the various programs.
So when a user taps on the screen to open any application, the operating system makes sure to run it in the foreground on the screen. It can thus be assimilated to a kind of “traffic police” whose job is to redirect the flow of information and identify those who have preference.
